My favorite patent

No, it’s not mine. And it’s not Jack’s. Or his brother’s (although getting one for dancing robots is amazingly cool). It’s this one!

Note the filing date: 1977. That means this patent is EXPIRED. That is, anyone can make use of this technology without paying any licensing fees.

Why is every keyboard for sale (except the ones from these guys (caution: horrible website)) uses a flabby membrane switch, instead of the superior buckling spring? Clicky keyboards feel SO much better to type on.

It’s a travesty. Come on, mainstream keyboard makers!
